Hi. Thanks for stopping by! You might be wondering who I am or why you’re here. Maybe I can help with that. Here’s enough to get you interested and (hopefully) wanting to come back. Think of this as our first date only I’m in yoga pants and didn’t shave my legs.
My name is Kelly (I’m the mom). These “late 30s” have come up on me like a freight train. (How did this happen?? I swear teenagerhood was just a couple years ago) A few people have said to me, “you’re funny and have an interesting life; you should start a blog!” But I’m also lazy and busy so I never really got around to it- until now. It’s time because frankly, I AM funny and interesting.
My partner is crime is Victor- technically not my husband yet but saying ‘boyfriend’ at my age feels dumb. He’s into dude stuff like cars and motorcycles, and he’s also a talented artist even though he won’t admit it. He works way too much and it kind of sucks.
I have 2 sons from my first marriage; Victor and I have a daughter together. Alex is 15 and prefers video games to girls, enjoys theoretical communism more than normal humans, and puts mustard or hot sauce on nearly everything he consumes (which is a lot… because teenage boys). He’s generally a great kid which is awesome considering how much of an asshole I was at that age. Don’t get excited though because karma caught up to me with #2. Evan is 12; he’s not a bad kid, he’s just got some… quirks. The kind of quirks that involve therapists and medications and a lot of stress for the rest of us. ADHD is alive and well in our house! Evan goes to a really neat hybrid school program where he is only in class 2 days a week and homeschooled the other 3 days. Fun, right? Last and definitely the cutest, Helena just turned 1. Her days are filled with walking around, sticking things in her mouth, and being adorable. Current interests include Elmo, animals, taking things out of cabinets , and pinching my nipples. She has a larger than average vocabulary for her age plus knows a half dozen signs. Oh, and my in-laws speak Spanish so we’ll have a trilingual toddler. What could possibly go wrong?
I have a couple of goals with starting this blog. 1- to make you laugh. 2- to let you know that whatever mom things you’re struggling with, you are not alone. 3- to inspire you to try something new, whether it be a food or a place or just a different perspective. 4- to share with you honest and occasionally brutal reviews of relevant mom/ family things and places. 5- to tell you all about what projects we have going on and try to sell you some awesome handmade goodies.
I was trying to find a nice photo of us to show off how beautiful my family is. But this seemed more appropriate…
